Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator in the Department of Medicine, Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine Division. The role supports clinical trials, protocol management, data collection and regulatory submissions under supervision.

Responsibilities include screening patients, coordinating study activities, communicating with physicians, and ensuring compliance with IRB and FDA requirements. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, immunology, microbiology or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience performing clinical research duties in a clinical setting.
• Ability to interpret medical charts and abstract data from records.
• Knowledge of ICU terminology and pulmonary/critical care environment.
• Familiarity with FDA policies regulating clinical trials.
• Experience with IRB submissions and regulatory documents.
• Strong data management, scheduling, and reporting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage clinical trials including protocol management, screening, data collection and analysis.
• Process IRB submissions and amendments; assist with regulatory submissions.
• Communicate with physicians and disease groups; attend weekly meetings.
• Schedule and recruit participants; prepare data for processing and analysis.
• Maintain accurate and complete trial files; monitor safety and adverse events.
• Assist with study startup, onboarding of staff and volunteers in the lab.
