Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director for Research, the Clinical Research Coordinator I provides support for ongoing departmental research projects housed within the Anesthesia Research Center at MGH. The Anesthesia Research Center is a departmental resource that supports investigators throughout the clinical research process in an effort to optimize study design and execution for investigations in all divisions of anesthesia.


As a member of the integrative Anesthesia Research Center, the Clinical Research Coordinator will be responsible for managing recruitment of patients in multiple clinical trials, participating in data collection and entry, as well as ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines. This includes maintaining regulatory compliance for both investigator-initiated unfunded research studies, as well as for funded (ex. NIH, DoD, industry) clinical research projects. Prior clinical research experience is strongly preferred. Excellent communication and attention to detail is a must.

Job Summary

Following established policies, procedures, and study protocols, provides assistance on clinical research studies, including recruiting, evaluating, and consenting patients for studies; collecting and organizing patient data; scheduling patients for study visits; performing clinical tests such as phlebotomy, EKGs, etc.; maintaining and updating data generated by the study.

Essential Functions

  1. Reviews proposals for compliance with sponsor and organizational guidelines; verifies all sponsor requirements are met.
  2. Recruiting patients for clinical trials, conducts phone.
  3. Verifies the accuracy of study forms and updates them per protocol.
  4. Prepares data for analysis and data entry.
  5. Documents patient visits and procedures.
  6. Assists with regulatory binders and QA/QC Procedures.
  7. Assists with interviewing study subjects.
  8. Assists with study regulator submissions.

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Science required.

None required.

Experience

Some relevant research project work 0-1 year preferred. Experience with REDCap is preferred but not required.
