Job summary

The START Center for Cancer Research in Utah seeks a Clinical Research Coordinator to support daily activities of early phase oncology trials. You will ensure protocol adherence, data quality, and patient safety under supervision of senior staff.

Location: West Valley City, UT. Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, with responsibilities spanning study coordination, regulatory compliance, and participant education.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of clinical research experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GCP and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and trial management software.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with study sponsors, CROs, and staff regarding questions and protocol status.
  • Monitor day-to-day conduct of studies per protocol, SOPs and GCP.
  • Create or review forms to ensure protocol compliance.
  • Maintain files with standardized labeling and filing.
  • Train staff on protocols and amendments.
  • Maintain up-to-date contact list.
  • Assist with patient screening and eligibility.
  • Facilitate informed consent process.
  • Prepare source documents per SOP.
  • Address deviations and work with leadership on corrective actions.
  • Assist data coordination with case report forms and queries.
  • Collaborate with PI to complete SAE reports.
  • Closeout protocol-related activities with data coordination.
  • Provide documentation for deviations.
  • Ensure all team members adhere to protocols.
  • Conduct telephone triage assessments when needed.
  • Educate patients about trial participation and potential side effects.

Job description

The START Center for Cancer Research (“START”) is the world’s largest early phase site network, fully dedicated to oncology clinical research. To date, over 45 therapies conducted at START locations have obtained FDA/EMA approval.

We are hiring a Clinical Research Coordinator to work under the guidance of senior research staff to support the daily activities of early phase oncology clinical trials. The CRC ensures the accurate and timely conduct of clinical research, adhering to protocols, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm

Essential Responsibilities
  • Communicate on a regular basis with Study Sponsor’s, CRO’s, staff, etc.regardingquestions, concerns, as well as status of the protocol.
  • Monitor the overall day-to-day conduct of assigned studiesin accordance withthe specified protocol requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, and Good Clinical Practice to ensure integrityregardingall aspects of the study.
  • Create/review forms created or revised for assigned trials toassureprotocol compliance.
  • Maintainfiles using standardized study document labeling and filing procedures.
  • Implement initial protocol and amendments, training staff who will be involved in patient treatment and management.
  • Maintain an up-to‑date contact list.
  • Assistwith patient screening and determination of eligibility.
  • Facilitate the informed consent process ensuring that consent is appropriately completed.
  • Prepare and manage source documents according to standard operating procedures.
  • Recognize deviations to the protocol and will work with leadership and staff to address corrective actions to prevent deviations.
  • Assistdata coordinator team with casereport formcompletion and query resolution.
  • Work with the Principal Investigator to complete andsubmitSerious Adverse Event reports.
  • Perform protocol specific closeout related activities in conjunction with the data coordinator.
  • Provide documentation for alldeviationswhether related to the protocol or a SOP.
  • Ensure that all team members involved understand and adhere to assigned protocols.
  • Perform telephone triage assessments of patients on trial when necessary.
  • Provide patient education regarding participation in a clinical trial, chemotherapy/biotherapy/investigational agent administration and potential side effects.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of clinical research experience.
  • Basic understanding of oncology clinical trials, particularly Phase 1 studies.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of GCP and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and clinical trial management software.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Experience working in an oncology setting.
Physical & Travel Requirements:
  • Approximately 80% oftimeis spent sitting.
  • Very fast-paced and ever-changing healthcare environment.
  • Demanding deadlines andtime frames.
  • Constant demand for updating knowledge.
  • Works closely with physicians and ancillary personnel in caring for and treating oncology/hematology patients.
