Responsibilities of the Clinical Research Assistant:
  1. Consenting and recruiting patients for research studies through personal interviews and written communications with patients/families. Providing detailed background information regarding studies to families, communicating all policies and procedures, and responding to inquiries. Evaluating suitability of prospective study candidates and making selections based on clinical knowledge.
  2. Serving as a liaison to families/patients in research studies, conducted at both on-site and off-site locations, guiding and advising them throughout each phase of the study. Coordinating follow-up visits as necessary. Acting as a resource to study participants and addressing concerns. Troubleshooting issues that arise during the study.
  3. Coordinating and preparing documentation for Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Committee on Clinical Investigations (CCI) submissions, in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
  4. Creating and preparing data collection reports and analytical summaries for review and analysis by the research team. Writing articles and summaries for submission to medical journals as needed.
  5. Participating in training newly hired research study assistants.
  6. Coordinating activities between the hospital and research laboratories to ensure correct testing and processing, and sending out specific instructions. Communicating project policies and procedures to personnel. Monitoring data collection, data entry, and informed consent procedures for consistency.
  7. Performing other administrative duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Analytical skills to interpret complex data and problems.
  • Strong communication skills to convey critical information, handle conflicting views, and mediate solutions.
  • Advanced writing skills.
