The Clinical Research Assistant I will work as part of the Boston Center for Endometriosis research team in the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital.

This position involves spending time in our research offices, medical settings, and our research laboratory. The ideal candidate is able to handle a dynamic role through strong organizational and communication skills, discuss sensitive topics about young women's health, provide quality patient interactions, pay attention to detail, and multitask effectively. The ability to work as part of a team is essential.

This Clinical Research Assistant I will be responsible for:

  • Work collaboratively with a team of research assistants, data managers, and principal investigators to manage and run multiple studies.
  • Conduct study visits according to strict protocols, deliver physical tests and verbal questionnaires in-person and virtually in a compassionate and respectful manner.
  • Transport and process specimens in a research laboratory (urine, saliva, blood, peritoneal fluid, tissue).
  • Manage confidential data and maintain multiple Access and REDCap databases, including data entry, data cleaning, and analysis with support from a biostatistician.
  • Prepare and update study documents for the Investigational Review Board.
  • Contribute to the development of study materials, newsletters, website design, and social media presence of the research studies.
  • Maintain the electronic inventory of existing samples housed within the Biorepository.
  • Participate in the preparation of previously collected frozen samples for biochemical analyses at outside labs, including aliquoting, labeling, and shipping.
  • General maintenance of the Biorepository, including monitoring supplies and general lab organization.

In order to qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in life sciences).
  • Strong interest in gynecology/women's health.
  • Interest in the greater mission of clinical research.
  • The position requires excellent organizational skills in order to formulate, implement, and monitor a number of interrelated tasks.
  • The ability to pay strict attention to detail on a continuous basis to ensure that research results are valid and error-free.
  • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills are necessary in order to communicate and interact effectively with individuals from various fields of expertise and various levels of experience, as well as with study subjects, administrative, and technical staff.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and/or SAS is desirable.
  • Lab training is provided but familiarity with basic lab practices and comfort handling bio specimens is preferred.
  • Ability to lift 40lb freezer racks is essential.
