Job summary

The Ohio State University seeks a Clinical Research Aide in Pathology to support clinical research activities on day shifts at East Hospital. You will assist with data extraction, data entry, and basic lab tasks, under IRB and GCP guidelines for approved protocols.

This temporary, part-time role requires a High School diploma and prefers a Bachelor's degree with 1–2 years of related experience; ability to multitask and work well in a team with reliable transportation is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience in pipetting and working in a biosafety cabinet preferred.
  • Must be able to work well with others, multitask, and have reliable transportation to the East Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily clinical research activities under GCP and IRB policies.
  • Assist with assessing patient records to extract data and complete data entry.
  • Scan research records and perform tests on human samples for trials.
  • Generate reports and reviews to ensure data validity and protocol compliance.
  • Support study activities as needed to ensure regulatory adherence.

Job description

Job Title: Clinical Research Aide - Pathology - Days

Department: Medicine | Pathology

Position Summary

Clinical Research Aide will perform daily clinical research activities in accordance with Human Subjects Protection, Good Clinical Practice regulations, IRB policies and approved protocols administered by the Department of Pathology with partnership with the Center for Clinical Research Management (CCRM); may assist with assessing patient records required for specified clinical research protocols to extract data; completes data entry, scans research records; performs tests on human samples in the clinical lab for an approved clinical trial or study; generates reports and reviews to ensure validity of data supports activities to ensure compliance with all Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and the study sponsor.

Job Requirements
  • High School graduate required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 1 - 2 years of relevant experience in a clinical or research laboratory preferred.
  • Experience in pipetting and working in a biosafety cabinet and handling human specimens is preferred.
  • Must be able to work well with others, be able to multi-task, and have reliable transportation to the East Hospital.
Schedule

This position will require approximately 4–6 hours of work per day, scheduled between 8:00AM and 5:00PM. The position is expected to continue through Spring 2027, with the possibility of extension based on business needs.
