Job summary

Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health is seeking Clinical Psychologists to join its behavioral health team to provide high-quality psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services in a dynamic, multidisciplinary setting.

You will perform assessments, report findings, and deliver CBT and other therapies, collaborating with clients and care teams to promote recovery and resilience. Applicants with doctoral degrees and California licensure eligibility are welcome.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited psychology program.
  • California licensure or waiver eligibility.
  • Ability to provide assessments across clinical populations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using a variety of testing instruments to diagnose psychiatric and co-occurring disorders.
  • Interpret assessment findings and prepare diagnostic reports with evidence-based treatment recommendations.
  • Provide diagnostic evaluations, structured clinical interviews, and individual, group, and family psychotherapy.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychotherapy, and behavior modification.
  • Develop, implement, and refine individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, monitoring progress and modifying interventions as needed.
  • Gather and integrate medical, psychological, social, and family histories to inform diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, evaluate treatment outcomes, and provide consultation on psychological assessment and treatment.
  • Provide expert testimony regarding psychological evaluations and contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives.

About the role:

As a Clinical Psychologist at the Department of Mental Health, you will provide a broad range of psychological services, including:

  • Interpret assessment findings and prepare diagnostic reports with evidence-based treatment recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., or equivalent) from an accredited institution in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology, Education with a specialization in Counseling Psychology, or another discipline recognized as equivalent by the California Board of Psychology.

License/Waiver

  • Possession of a California Department of Mental Health Waiver issued in accordance with Welfare and Institutions Code Section 5751.1–2.
