Description

Responsible for social work practice under the supervision of a licensed independent clinical social worker, providing psychiatric and/or psychosocial assessments to children and adolescents in the Emergency Room and/or Inpatient Psychiatry Unit. Provides evaluation and assessment using DSM V criteria to determine risk and need for hospitalization and/or case disposition. Offers collaborative consultation to meet diagnostic and treatment needs. Obtains medical consultation from the on-call psychiatrist to determine case disposition.

PRN - Evening Shift - M-F 6pm-12:00am

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Master's Degree in Social Work (Required)
  • Required Skills/Knowledge: Excellent communication skills, ability to relate to diverse patient populations, punctuality and attendance.
  • Required Licenses and Certifications: Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) required; LCSW or LICSW preferred.

Functional Accountabilities

Diagnostic Assessment
  • Evaluate patient status, including assessment for suicidality/homicidality with attending physician.
  • Complete social histories and psychosocial assessments for medical records.
  • Triaging patients to appropriate services.
  • Interview family members to develop assessment and intervention plans.
Multidisciplinary Interventions
  • Educate staff on psychosocial issues impacting patients.
  • Participate in daily rounds for treatment planning and discharge.
  • Coordinate with CFSA social workers to identify additional needs and plan discharges.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team and utilization management for discharge planning.
Family Therapy
  • Apply theoretical frameworks to family interventions.
  • Encourage positive communication among family members.
  • Recognize progress and obstacles, intervening accordingly.
Documentation
  • Complete assessment documentation clearly and promptly.
Linkage Services / Case Management
  • Be knowledgeable about community resources and placements.
  • Communicate with outside agencies to ensure continuity of care.

  • Teamwork/Communication: Demonstrate collaboration, respect, and open communication.
