**Responsibilities:**

  1. Participates in developing and administering clinical quality improvement programs related to emergent stroke care.
  2. Functions as a clinical resource nurse for staff and patients, collaborating with physicians.
  3. Plans and conducts continuing education programs for professionals and the public.
  4. Maintains the Stroke Registry database.
  5. Ensures proper identification and assessment of stroke patients, implementing appropriate care pathways.
  6. Acts as a liaison for research within relevant stroke and EMS organizations.
  7. Works with physician Stroke directors on program planning and development.
  8. Monitors adherence to standards of care, protocols, and guidelines.
  9. Establishes and maintains policies and procedures compliant with legal and organizational standards.
  10. Maintains active liaison with community and professional organizations.
  11. Monitors hospital resources usage to improve outcomes.
  12. Develops and presents quality improvement activities.
  13. Ensures timely implementation of the Stroke Care Pathway.
  14. Prepares and analyzes data for program evaluation and accreditation.
  15. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  16. Acts as a patient advocate and participates in research projects.
  17. Provides educational information to various stakeholders.
  18. Maintains hospital policies and contributes to a positive work environment.
  19. Engages in professional development and certification activities related to stroke care.
  20. Completes other duties as assigned, including obtaining required stroke-specific education.

**Qualifications:**

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
  • Eight hours of initial and annual stroke-specific education.
  • Washington RN License upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS certification (American Heart Association).
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification upon hire.
  • Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, with 2 years in Emergency Department or inpatient stroke care.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing (BSN or MSN).
  • Project management experience.
