Job Description

The Principal Clinical Program Pharmacist is responsible for implementing the strategy and developing clinical product(s). This role involves maintaining the competitiveness of the product(s) by understanding market challenges, executing the product roadmap, and establishing clinical criteria. It requires regular interaction with leadership regarding product strategy and collaboration with other departments to ensure strategic execution.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage complex clinical product initiatives, including clinical criteria.
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize market information, clinical guidelines, and member claims data to support clinical product management initiatives, products, and strategies.
  • Coordinate, launch, and implement new products, product enhancements, and process improvements across stakeholders.
  • Represent the Clinical department as a strategic partner during customer requirement sessions.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance (URAC/NCQA, CMS, state law) and serve as the external representative of the department.
  • Validate the accuracy of clinical product information and setup, including user acceptance testing of applications and programs.
  • Establish and maintain cross-functional partnerships with leaders to facilitate informed decisions and successful initiative execution.
  • Collaborate routinely with client partners as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
  • Current pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in retail, hospital, clinical, or managed care settings, including 2 years in a clinical or managed care environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Additional Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience working in regulated environments.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous roles with undefined parameters.
  • Excellent relationship, communication, and presentation skills to convey complex ideas effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Capability to develop process efficiencies.
  • Teamwork-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Broad exposure to or experience in the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) industry.
Physical Demands
  • Constant sitting, handling, talking, and hearing.
  • Frequent reaching with hands and arms.
  • Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Potential salary ranges from $124,000 to $211,000, depending on experience and skills.
