Job summary

Tuskegee University is seeking a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine to contribute to teaching veterinary students, graduates, and interns. The role emphasizes clinical service within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, delivering high-quality patient care while engaging learners in hands-on experiences.

The successful candidate will participate in emergency coverage, mentor trainees, and contribute to teaching across all four years of the curriculum.

Qualifications

• ACVIM or ECVIM ( SAIM ) board certification strongly preferred.
• Residency-trained or significant clinical experience in small animal internal medicine will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging classroom, clinical, and laboratory instruction to veterinary students, graduate students, and interns.
• Provide expert consultation and clinical service in Small Animal Internal Medicine within the VTH.
• Participate in Emergency/After-hour service, and expected to support the Community Practice Section.
• Mentor students, interns, and graduate veterinarians, supporting their academic and professional development.
• Engage in teaching across all four years of the veterinary curriculum, from foundational sciences to advanced clinical practice.
• Develop innovative teaching, service, and outreach programs that enhance the Department and College.
• Participate in collaborative research and creative scholarship at the College, the University, and with external partners.
• Contribute to community service and outreach consistent with TUCVM’s mission and serving the region through our VTH.
• All other duties as assigned.
