Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Clinical Product Advisor for Broadmoor Campus to advance the integrity and standardization of perioperative preference cards. Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary resource to perioperative teams to support accurate, complete, and standardized supplies on preference cards.
• Reinforce adherence to processes for adding, updating, validating, and reviewing preference cards.
• Coordinate with clinical stakeholders to facilitate timely updates and ensure content consistency.
• Identify and elevate gaps in compliance with established standards and ownership expectations.
• Ensure preference cards reflect approved products and contracted supplies.
• Support value analysis initiatives through coordinated updates to preference cards.
• Identify variation between preference cards and approved product decisions and partner with stakeholders to resolve.
• Align preference card data with inventory management practices including case picking, returns, and workflows.
• Support initiatives that improve inventory visibility and traceability at point of use.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between preference cards, case picks, and actual utilization.
• Partner with supply chain to connect perioperative demand signals to inventory planning and replenishment.
• Support alignment between preference cards and clinical documentation systems to improve accuracy of supply capture.
• Assist in linking supplies listed, used, and documented to strengthen data integrity.
• Contribute to efforts that improve data integrity across clinical, operational, and financial systems.
• Serve as a key connector across perioperative services, supply chain, distribution and logistics, and master data teams.
• Facilitate coordination and execution of workflows related to preference cards, readiness, and procedural support.

Position Summary / Career Interest:

M - F 8am - 5pm

This role serves as a key operational driver responsible for advancing the integrity, standardization, and effectiveness of perioperative preference cards with a specific focus on supplies. Preference cards function as a foundational capability aligning Perioperative Services and Spend Management, with this role ensuring consistency and execution across both areas.

The scope of this role focuses on connecting perioperative supply workflows to inventory availability and visibility, data integrity, and clinical documentation. This role also serves as a key operational liaison across perioperative services, physicians, spend management, support teams and clinical systems. Additional focuses include working to improve preference card accuracy, supporting supply standardization, enhancing point-of-use inventory visibility, and strengthening alignment between supplies picked, documented, returned and all connected inventory management processes.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring alignment between preference cards, approved contracted supplies and implants, inventory strategies, and clinical documentation. Additionally, the role helps identify opportunities to reduce supply costs, reduce clinical variation with supplies, reduce supply waste, and increase contract compliance.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

• Serve as a primary resource to perioperative teams to support accurate, complete, and standardized supplies on preference cards in alignment with established governance frameworks

• Reinforce adherence to defined processes for adding, updating, validating, and the periodic review of supplies on preference cards

• Coordinate with clinical stakeholders to facilitate timely updates and ensure consistency in structure and content

• Identify and elevate gaps in compliance with established standards, workflows, and ownership expectations

• Ensure preference cards reflect approved products and contracted supplies

• Support implementation of value analysis initiatives, including product conversions and standardization efforts, through coordinated updates to preference cards

• Identify variation between preference cards and approved product decisions, and partner with stakeholders to resolve

• Observe procedures to understand the overall operational efficiencies needing improvement as it relates to supplies on preference cards

• Monitor and report out on supply waste, and other identified metrics, within the procedural locations on a quarterly basis

• Observe and document the end-to-end process associated with preference cards as they relate to supply management

• Responsible to maintain confidentiality of PHI

• Partner with service line specific departments to build out data requests to drive decisions on procedural supply management

• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Nursing or related field of study from an accredited college or university. AND

• 3 or more years of experience in supply chain.

• Clinicians must have 3 or more years of experience and be certified in one of the following areas: Registered Nurse, Interventional Radiology Technologist, Surgical Technologist, Respiratory Therapist, Cath Lab Technologist, Electrophysiology Technologist.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Master's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Licensure and Certification

• Certified Surgical Services Manager Credential - Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN)

• TUKHS Lean certification.

Required Language Skills

• Fluent English - with advanced communication skills.

Knowledge Requirements

• Proficient in Microsoft applications is required.

• Familiarity with Lean concepts and processes.

• Must have strong problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands.
