Job Description

When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives. This role provides patient services including greeting, check-in, scheduling, and medical assisting while delivering excellent service and contributing to the smooth flow of practice operations. The position reports to the manager with input from assigned physicians, nurses, or other healthcare providers.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Communicates with and assists patients, staff, and the public courteously via phone and in person.
  2. Provides accurate information, directions, and follow-up to meet patient needs.
  3. Collects complete and accurate patient information, prioritizes communication, and facilitates information flow to providers.
  4. Prepares schedules, patient charts, and documents adhering to quality standards.
  5. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times, including during discussions and information distribution.
  6. Performs check-in, registration, and verification of demographic and fiscal information using a computer system.
  7. Enters data from visit tickets accurately and timely to support billing processes.
  8. Collects copayments in accordance with established standards.
  9. Assists patients during check-in and schedules diagnostic and lab tests, accommodating patient and provider needs.
  10. Inputs patient insurance, managed care plans, prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications, explaining processes as needed.
  11. Verifies patient schedule and ensures billing tickets are entered into the system.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with web-based applications.
  • Certification or diploma as MA, EMT, CNA, or LNA; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting, including roles such as MA, PCT, CNA, or nursing/medical student with clinical rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy certification.
Competencies
  • Written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of standard healthcare practices and policies.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Customer service orientation with active listening and problem-solving skills, remaining calm under stress.
Physical Requirements

Heavy work involving exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. Extended periods of standing and moving are required.
