Position description

The UCLA Hospitalist Service has openings for full-time faculty hospitalist nocturnists for cohorts covering two hospital sites in the West Los Angeles area. Sites include Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (UCLA's flagship tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital treating patients across the socioeconomic spectrum with a variety of illnesses, including a large population of patients with solid organ transplants) and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center (UCLA's community teaching hospital treating patients across the socioeconomic spectrum).


Responsibilities on various service lines include admitting and cross-covering patients on services including direct care (general medicine) hospitalist services, solid oncology service, and hematologic malignancy services. Oncology services are staffed by oncologists, with overnight admitting and cross-covering performed by hospitalist nocturnists. These services include patients undergoing CAR T-cell therapy and bone marrow transplantation. The successful applicant will also hold a full-time faculty appointment in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or full Professor rank in the Department of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.


Responsibilities also include a minimum of 36 hours per week of direct patient care; clinical teaching of medical students and/or residents; participation in creativity in a variety of professional activities including those that may involve teaching, scholarly contributions and administration; and participation in university or public service.


The successful candidate must be board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine. Demonstrated skill in clinical teaching and professional practice is required. An M.D. or D.O. is required. A California medical license is required.
