Job summary

The Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) seeks a Clinical Physician to oversee medical care for patients at a Tobacco-Free ATC, provide health education, and support a multidisciplinary team. The role includes on-site care during evenings, weekends, and off hours, with responsibilities in discharge planning and clinical leadership.

Responsibilities cover supervision of nurse practitioners, consultation to clinicians, and participation in efforts to improve patient care and facility

Qualifications

• Clinical Physician 1 requires possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and one year of post-licensure experience.
• Clinical Physician 2 requires possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and two years of post-licensure medical experience.
• Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs must be maintained for continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee medical care provided to patients; obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, order medications and procedures; authorize admissions and render admitting diagnoses.
• Provide individual and group health education and risk reduction counseling.
• Available for consultation, direction, and on-site care during evenings, weekends, and off hours.
