Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the clinical team. The role involves obtaining complete medication histories, documenting in the EHR, and supporting sterile compounding and IV admixtures.

Hours are 12 noon to 8:30 pm, with a focus on accuracy, patient safety, and collaboration with the care team. The position requires an Illinois Pharmacy Technician license (IDFPR) and CPhT certification, with preference for candidates having up to one year

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR) required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through PTCB or NHA required for all licensed after 2008 (within 6 months of hire).
• IL regulations may apply to pharmacy practice acts within Illinois.
• One year or less of related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document the most complete medication history for patients in hospital and emergency settings.
• Ensure timely medication history collection to support smooth clinical transitions.
• Interview patients and verify allergies and medication lists.
• Communicate clearly with the care team and patients to prevent medication errors.
• Maintain accurate documentation of medication histories in the EHR.
• Support in sterile compounding and IV admixtures as required.
• Assist with inventory, cart checks, and ordering processes.
• Ensure proper handling and security of controlled substances.
