Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for direct patient care and multidisciplinary team support for oncology clinical research patients at inpatient units and outpatient infusion sites. The role includes reviewing clinical trial protocols, developing guidelines, supporting clinical staff, coordinating transitions of care, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting presentations, quality improvement projects, and precepting residents and students.

Experience and Education

  • PGY1 and PGY2 from an ASHP-accredited residency, or PGY1 with 5+ years of specialty practice, completion of a specialty fellowship, or 8+ years of progressive practice.
  • Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited school.
  • Eligible for Texas licensure within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA required by start date.
  • Basic computer skills, data entry, and proficiency in English.
  • Good health and stress coping ability.
  • Moderate physical effort required (standing, walking, occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.).

Job Duties

  • Adhere to organizational policies, performance improvement, and infection control standards.
  • Develop and implement processes to meet regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate staff training, competencies, and education.
  • Assist with therapeutic monitoring, patient assessments, lab interpretation, and pharmacokinetics.
  • Engage in clinical activities including cost-saving initiatives, presentations, research projects, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Maintain visibility through participation in in-services, meetings, and training.
  • Mentor staff pharmacists and trainees, manage formulary and P&T initiatives, and ensure medication safety and efficacy.
  • Participate in quality improvement, cost management, and formulary review processes.
  • Perform medication order reviews, documentation, and interventions.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to safety and compliance policies.
  • Support teamwork, communicate effectively, and demonstrate flexibility and professionalism.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Mentoring, delegation, and performance evaluation skills.
  • Participation in committee meetings and documentation processes.
  • Proficiency in medication management, clinical assessment, and personal development activities.

Working Conditions

Primarily in William P Clements University Hospital, Zale Lipshy University Hospital, or UTSW Ambulatory Clinics.

Security

Qualifications may be considered as equivalents with prior approval. This position is security-sensitive under Texas Education Code *51.215, requiring criminal background checks.
