Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist to perform advanced clinical pharmacotherapy reviews, support formulary processes, and provide education to pharmacists, nurses, and medical staff. The role includes patient-centered care across designated units and contributes to safety and cost-effective pharmacotherapy.

This position covers medical-surgical units and/or the intermediate care unit with a schedule from 8:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Must have PGY1 residency or equivalent experience (i.e., three years per residency year)
• Three years of clinical practice experience
• Meets HM standards of an ASHP-Qualified Residency Preceptor within one year of employment
• Texas Pharmacist License or eligible within 90 days and PPC- Pharmacist Preceptor Cert within 90 days (required)
• BLS within 90 days
• ACLС within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Promotes optimal pharmacotherapy and supports formulary processes
• Provides education to pharmacists, nurses, and medical staff
• Precepts students and residents during rotations
• Performs medication reconciliation and clinical reviews
• Collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure safe patient care
