Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site.

ROLE

The Clinical Pharmacist Supervisor Is Involved In The Provision, Development And Day To Day Operations Of The MAHC Pharmacy Department And Services. This Includes But Is Not Limited To

  • Review medication orders for safety and appropriateness, and verify orders in an electronic computerized health information system
  • Provide drug information and clinical pharmacy support (e.g. pharmacokinetic monitoring, etc.)
  • Responsible for the oversight of drug distribution services in collaboration with other pharmacy staff (including IV medications, TPN, chemotherapy, narcotics etc.)
  • Assisting in the investigation and reporting of medication related incidents
  • Ensure provision of pharmacy services in compliance with accepted standards and relevant legislation (accreditation, Can. Soc. of Hosp Pharmacists, Food & Drug Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, Public Hosp. Act, NAPRA, USP 797, etc.)
  • Effectively communicate with nursing, medical staff, pharmacy team members and management
  • Act as immediate supervisor and resource person to pharmacy technicians, students, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

  • Graduate of a degree program in Pharmacy from a recognized University (B. Sc Pharm. or PharmD)
  • Holds a current license from the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Member in good standing of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists an asset

Required Skills & Experience(s)

  • Three (3) to five (5) years' experience as a Pharmacist working in a hospital pharmacy department an asset
  • Management experiences an asset
  • Possess sound professional judgement, initiative, innovation, ability to organize, co-ordinate, communicate, discipline, delegate and communicate well with all professional groups within the Hospitals

Location(s): This position will primarily work remote, however some travel to our locations, South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville may be required.

Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, afternoons and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements.
