Job Description

The Senior Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for the clinical and regulatory analysis activities required for the implementation of clinical and regulated programs, including coverage lists in support of client benefits. This position is responsible for serving as the key strategist to ensure all client, internal, and regulatory initiated projects are implemented according to specifications. This position is also responsible for supporting quality assurance needs and analytical activities related to benefit plans. This role provides work direction, coaching and project leadership for Clinical Pharmacists.

Responsibilities

  • Represent operations as a strategic partner during client project requirement sessions, including utilization management, coverage exceptions, and regulatory requirements

  • Establish and maintain cross functional partnerships with leaders to drive successful execution of client requests

  • Provide personal growth and development opportunities to staff, in alignment with required skills, and provide coaching and feedback to staff consistent with performance management practices

  • Resolve complex and/or escalated client and/or member issues related to benefit design and set up

  • Serve as strategy partner and subject matter expert for MediSpan data, Formulary Work Place and government regulations

  • Manage department/enterprise-wide projects

  • Develop proficiency on multiple client benefit design set ups

  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science Pharmacy Degree

  • Current pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy in the State where the position is located

  • 3 years of work experience in clinical, retail, hospital, or managed care

  • MediSpan or First Databank experience

  • Formulary database management experience

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and quality

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under pressure with strict timelines

  • Experience working in a regulated environment

  • Demonstrated ability to develop process efficiencies

  • Ability to work well in team environment

  • Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership and/or management experience

  • Knowledge of AS400, queries, Microsoft Access, and Lotus Notes

  • RxClaim experience

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, additional hours during peak season, on-call, and shifts outside of Prime's core business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • Constantly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk and hear

  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, and crouch

  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Potential pay for this position ranges from $124,000.00 - $211,000.00 based on experience and skills.
