Clinical Pharmacist, Specialty Central Fill - Full-time, Days - 76th St.

Join Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System, as a Clinical Pharmacist, Specialty Central Fill - Full-time, Days - 76th St.

Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Ambulatory/Retail Clinical Pharmacist at our specialty central fill location on 76th Street in Philadelphia near the airport. The pharmacist will work onsite with the Specialty Central Fill Operations team to fill, verify, and package medication orders, assist with medication deliveries, resolve insurance issues, and support technicians with daily tasks.

Responsibilities
  1. Review physician medication orders for accuracy, including allergies, dosages, and interactions.
  2. Clarify ambiguous or erroneous orders through direct communication with physicians.
  3. Inform physicians of nonformulary and restricted items, suggesting alternatives.
  4. Cover all pharmacy areas including inpatient, outpatient, mobile carts, IV admixtures, hyperalimentation, and chemotherapy.
  5. Participate in drug utilization evaluations, quality assurance, clinical interventions, interdisciplinary rounds, and medication therapy monitoring.
  6. Counsel patients on medication therapies and food/drug interactions.
  7. Provide drug information to hospital staff.
  8. Supervise pharmacy technicians and students, ensuring accuracy.
  9. Maintain current knowledge of policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  10. Ensure licensure and continuing education requirements are met.
  11. Adhere to safety, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and organization.
Qualifications
  • PA Pharmacist license (Required)
  • Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited school (Required)
