Clinical Pharmacist Specialist, Critical Care
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy OR Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy (required)
- PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency (required)
- PGY-2 Pharmacy Practice Residency Critical Care (required)
- PA Pharmacist License (required)
Hours
- Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm
- Weekends and Holidays – N/A
Responsibilities:
- Rotate coverage between the various ICU Settings:
- Heart and Vascular
- Cardiac
- Trauma
- Medical
- Neurology
- Optimize clinical treatment plans and operational processes to improve care for critically ill patients
- Reduce medication errors and evaluate previous errors for quality improvement opportunities
- Increase communication and awareness of patients transitioning out of the ICU
- Lead in the creation of cost-avoidance strategies
- Provide education to the pharmacy and ICU staff
- Represent Pharmacy for selected clinical/operational/departmental committees
- Assist in dynamic strategy development for managing medication shortages (i.e. guidelines/restrictions)
- Assist in the development and implementation of clinical policies and protocols to optimize patient care
- Provide education to the clinical pharmacists
- Initiate or participate in quality improvement projects and recommend updates/modifications as necessary to optimize pharmacy services.
