Job summary

University Health in San Antonio, Texas, seeks a licensed pharmacist to provide clinical and distributive services across neonatal to adult patients, dispensing and labeling medications, reviewing drug utilization, and maintaining accurate drug records in compliance with JCAHO, OSHA, Medicare/Medicaid, and Texas Board of Pharmacy standards.

The role requires Texas licensure and preferably two years of hospital pharmacy experience, with adherence to formulary decisions and health-system policies

Qualifications

  • Texas licensure is required for practice.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred (minimum 2 years).
  • Knowledge of JCAHO, OSHA, and Texas Board of Pharmacy rules is expected.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides clinical and distributive services for Neonatal through Adult patients in accordance with JCAHO, OSHA, Medicare/Medicaid standards and Texas State Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations. Dispenses and labels drugs or devices, selects drugs and reviews drug utilization, stores prescription drugs and devices and maintains drug records in a pharmacy. Advises or consults when necessary or required by law about therapeutic value, content, hazard, or use of drugs and devices, or offering or performing the services and transactions necessary to operate a pharmacy. Implements decisions set forth by the P&T Committee as written in the Hospital Formulary and complies with Health System policies and procedures with regard to the dispensing, maintaining and storing of drugs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Pharmacy licensure in the State of Texas is required. Two years experience in a hospital pharmacy preferred.

LICENSURE

Has current, or is eligible for licensure in Texas.
