Job summary

Baptist Medical Center East in Montgomery, AL seeks a Clinical Pharmacist, Pediatrics to lead clinical pharmacy activities in the pediatric area. The role supports staff development, maintains current pharmaceutical practices, and promotes safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapy.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited school of pharmacy; PharmD preferred.
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited residency program or minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Active RPH license in Alabama and Alabama Controlled Substance certification; BLS required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for clinical pharmacy activities within the pediatric area.
  • Support staff development and oversee new programs and activities.
  • Promote safe, appropriate, and cost‑effective medication therapy across the department.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for assigned areas and ensure quality outcomes.

Job Overview

Clinical Pharmacist, Pediatrics – Provide leadership for all clinical pharmacy activities within the assigned pediatric area at Baptist Medical Center East, support staff development, maintain current pharmaceutical practices, and promote safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapy. This position may have additional duties within scope.

Responsibilities

Support staff development, assist in planning, organization, implementation, and follow‑up of new programs and activities, and provide oversight, guidance, and support for assigned areas. Promote safe medication therapy throughout the department.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy; PharmD preferred. Completion of an ASHP-accredited residency program or minimum of 2 years experience.

Licensure/Certification: Active RPH, Active Alabama Controlled Substance certification, BLS required; BPS preferred; additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) may be required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
  • Strong team leadership, organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, proven track record of successful performance.
  • Ability to understand complex multifactor situations and bring appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficient in pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Knowledgeable in aseptic technique.
