Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a current Pharmacist license with the State of California.
• Pharmacist licensure requires graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy and pass licensure examination.
• Knowledge of unit dose drug distribution and IV admixture services, compounding of prescriptions, drug interactions, adverse reactions, and drug toxicities.

Responsibilities

• Accurately interprets medication orders to ensure appropriate drug, dose, route, and form according to the age and size of the patient.
• Accurately processes medication orders concerning patient, drug, dose, strength, route, dosage form and duration utilizing the pharmacy computer system.
• Dispenses controlled substances according to state and federal law; maintains related documents and inventory.
• Continually prepares or supervises intravenous admixtures or hyperalimentation solutions using aseptic technique.
• Consults with medical and nursing staff to provide accurate information about drug therapy.
