Job summary

Olympia Fields Hospital is seeking an Oncology/Infusion Clinical Pharmacist to deliver advanced pharmacotherapy for cancer and infusion therapies in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will verify orders, manage regimens, and drive safety and efficacy with a collaborative oncologic team.

Responsibilities include protocol development, chemotherapy management, hazardous drug handling, and outcomes monitoring.

Qualifications

• Current state Registered Pharmacist License.
• B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
• Completion of postgraduate clinical training (PGY-1) or more than three years of clinical pharmacy with experience in infusion/oncology required.
• BLS required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Strong customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• The Oncology/Infusion Clinical Pharmacist provides advanced clinical pharmacy services for patients receiving cancer therapy and/or specialty infusion therapies across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• In collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, verifies and interprets medication orders, manages complex regimens, and documents clinical interventions.
• Develops and implements clinical protocols, manages complex chemotherapy regimens, and ensures proper handling of hazardous drugs.
• Monitors therapy outcomes, screens for drug interactions, and makes recommendations to prescribers to enhance safety and efficacy.
• Supports transitions of care, reimbursement coordination, and patient education; contributes to staff training and safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

The Oncology/Infusion Clinical Pharmacist provides advanced clinical pharmacy services for patients receiving cancer therapy and/or specialty infusion therapies across inpatient and outpatient settings. In collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, this role ensures safe, accurate, and evidence-based chemotherapy and supportive care by verifying and interpreting medication orders, managing complex regimens, documenting clinical interventions, and proactively identifying and resolving medication-related issues. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing clinical protocols, managing complex chemotherapy regimens, and contributing to infusion/oncology-focused medication safety initiatives by ensuring proper handling, dosing, and administration of hazardous drugs. In addition, the Oncology/Infusion Clinical Pharmacist actively monitors therapy outcomes, screens for drug interactions and contraindications, provides timely recommendations to prescribers to enhance patient safety and therapeutic efficacy, supports transitions of care by reconciling oncology-related medications, provide drug information and patient education, and participating in quality improvement efforts that enhance clinical outcomes and workflow efficiency. In outpatient infusion services, the pharmacist supports patient access and revenue cycle processes – including prior authorization, reimbursement coordination, and patient assistance resources – while providing oversight of oncology compounding operations to ensure safe preparation practices and regulatory compliance. The Oncology/Infusion Clinical Pharmacist also contributes to staff training and the effective use of technology to strengthen chemotherapy safety across the continuum of care.

Education, Experience, Training

Required Qualifications

• Current state Registered Pharmacist License.
• B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
• Completion of postgraduate clinical training (PGY-1) or more than three years of clinical pharmacy with experience in infusion/oncology required.
• BLS required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Postgraduate clinical training PGY-2, especially in Oncology, preferred.
• Proficiency in Epic Beacon or similar EMR systems preferred.
• Board certification in oncology pharmacy (BCOP) or sterile compounding (BCSCP) preferred. Preferred to obtain within 18 months of hire.
• Advanced clinical and pharmacy operations knowledge in oncology and infusion compounding preferred.
• Prior authorization, revenue cycle, reimbursement, and payor knowledge preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $112,320.00 to $151,174.40 on an annualized basis.
