Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland seeks a pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care for assigned patients under supervision. You will evaluate orders, dispense medications, prepare IV admixtures, and monitor drug therapies in a hospital setting.

The role requires a PharmD (or equivalent) and 1–2 years of direct patient care experience, with RPH licensure and board certification preferred. PGY-1 is an asset. Strong communication and computer skills are important for success.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree PharmD from an accredited college of Pharmacy required
• Equivalent Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy required
• 1-2 years of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting required
• PGY-1 preferred
• RPH – Registered Pharmacist Licensure in the state of practice Upon Hire required
• Board certification Upon Hire preferred
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and thoroughness.
• Resolves discrepancies of medication orders through communication with physicians, pharmacists, or nursing staff and dispenses medications.
• Assesses feasibility, compounds, or verifies extemporaneous products.
• Prepare IV admixtures and sterile products.
• Monitors and ensures optimum patient drug therapy under supervision.
• Counsels patients on medication use and adverse effects as needed.
• Maintains knowledge of current trends and participates in education programs.
