Massachusetts General Hospital is currently seeking highly motivated candidates to join our Cardiology Team. The Inpatient Cardiology Division includes: cardiac critical care unit, cardiothoracic critical care unit, two advanced general cardiology/step-down units, and one cardiothoracic step-down unit.
This position is primarily dedicated to cardiology clinical pharmacy services (general cardiology and critical care). The schedule is four weeks of days, every fifth week of evenings, and every fourth weekend. Evening shifts mainly cover medicine-surgical patients; weekends cover medicine-surgical and some cardiac step-down patients.
Clinical Pharmacists are responsible for providing safe, effective, and prompt medication therapy. They deliver direct patient-centered care and pharmacy operational services in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and hospital staff to optimize medication therapy across various disease states. They participate in interdisciplinary programs and specialty services to ensure pharmaceutical care is integrated throughout the hospital. Services include patient needs assessment, age and disease-specific drug therapy, patient education, care adjustments based on patient response, and interventions to prevent adverse drug events. They also serve as departmental resources, manage medication use according to standards, conduct research, and provide education and training, including serving as preceptors for pharmacy residents and students.

Lead patient service lines, clinical areas, and therapeutic programs by facilitating pharmaceutical care, designing pharmacy programs, and implementing quality improvement initiatives. Develop medication utilization strategies, provide leadership in committees, and ensure pharmacy services are integral to healthcare delivery.
Deliver direct patient care, including decentralized services, medication reconciliation, high-risk patient interventions, and patient education. Maintain proficiency with hospital systems, interpret medication orders, and monitor patient responses to therapy.
Participate in pharmacy operations, medication dispensing, and support education and preceptorship activities. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy practice standards, trends, and innovations. Contribute to professional knowledge through presentations, publications, and peer review activities.
