Clinical Pharmacist, Benefits Investigation--full-time, days (hybrid)--Specialty Central Fill

Position Overview:

Penn Medicine seeks a full-time, day shift (hybrid) Clinical Pharmacist for our benefits investigation, co-pay assistance, and prior authorization team at our specialty central fill location on 76th Street in Philadelphia near the airport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review physician medication orders for accuracy, including drug allergies, dosages, interactions, and polypharmacy.
  • Communicate with physicians to clarify or correct orders as needed.
  • Inform physicians about nonformulary and restricted items, recommending substitutions.
  • Manage all pharmacy areas including inpatient, outpatient, IV admixtures, hyperalimentation, and chemotherapy.
  • Participate in drug utilization evaluations, quality assurance, clinical interventions, interdisciplinary rounds, and monitor patient therapies.
  • Counsel patients on medication therapies and food/drug interactions.
  • Provide drug information to healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and students, ensuring accuracy of their work.
  • Maintain current knowledge of policies, procedures, and pharmacy practice advancements.
  • Ensure licensure and continuing education requirements are met.
  • Comply with all legal, regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution (required).
