Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, NC, seeks a clinical pharmacist practitioner in Oncology Services to deliver in-depth clinical pharmacy care for ambulatory hematology patients and to support cellular and gene therapies for adults and children.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or BS Pharmacy Degree required.
• Experience: oncology clinical practice preferred; PGY2 oncology residency advantageous.
• Licensure: Licensed or eligible in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth clinical pharmacy services to ambulatory oncology patients.
• Offer clinical input, education and treatment plan oversight for cellular and gene therapies.
• Educate medical, nursing and pharmacy staff on therapy management.
• Serve as resource to the Pharmacy Department and participate in committees.

Position Summary

Position Summary: This clinical pharmacist practitioner plays a key role in the Oncology Services Division. While this position has many challenging responsibilities, the major areas are listed below:

• Provides in-depth clinical pharmacy services to ambulatory adult malignant hematology patients seen in the Duke Blood Cancer Center Day Hospital
• Provides clinical input, education and treatment plan development oversight for cellular and gene therapies in both adult and pediatric patients
• Maintains outstanding skills as a clinical pharmacy practitioner and consistently demonstrates the value of pharmacy services.
• Educates medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff about the management, prescribing and monitoring of therapies used in patient care area(s) of responsibility.
• Serves as a resource to the Department of Pharmacy for area(s) of expertise.
• Participates in departmental and hospital committees and initiatives related to practice area.
• Contributes to student and resident education.
• Provides educational lectures and/or participates in research (Duke, State/Local, National).
• Works with peers to achieve division and departmental goals.
• Takes responsibility for personal and professional growth.
• Maintains familiarity with all departmental programs and works as integral part of the pharmacy team

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Doctor of Pharmacy Degree OR BS Pharmacy Degree

Experience

• With a BS Pharmacy degree, two years of pharmacy practice experience, or acceptable board certification, or completion of an accredited residency program and demonstrated ability to achieve positive patient outcomes in a similar environment is required.
• With Doctor of Pharmacy degree, no experience is required.
• 3 plus years of oncology clinical practice experience and/or PGY2 oncology residency preferred

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

• Licensed Pharmacist or eligible to practice pharmacy in North Carolina
• BCOP preferred
• CPP to be obtained within one year of hire.
