Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, NC seeks a clinical pharmacist focused on adult inpatient oncology and bone marrow transplant services. You will provide in-depth pharmaceutical care, educate care teams, and support research and patient outcomes in a dynamic hospital setting.

The ideal candidate holds a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy, with NC licensure or eligibility, and values ongoing professional development and collaboration within the Pharmacy Department.

Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacist or eligible to practice in North Carolina.
• Hold or achieve Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy within one year of hire preferred.
• PGY1 or Pharmacy Practice Residency preferred.
• PGY2 in oncology or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides in-depth clinical pharmacy services to adult inpatient bone marrow transplant oncology patients.
• Educates medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff about management, prescribing and monitoring of therapies.
• Serves as a resource to the Department of Pharmacy for areas of expertise.
• Participates in departmental and hospital committees and initiatives related to practice area.
• Contributes to student and resident education.
• Provides educational lectures and/or participates in research.
• Works with peers to achieve division and departmental goals.
• Takes responsibility for personal and professional growth.
• Maintains familiarity with all departmental programs and works as integral part of the pharmacy team.

Position Summary

This clinical pharmacist position plays a key role in the Oncology Services Division. While this position has many challenging responsibilities, the major areas are listed below:

• Provides in-depth clinical pharmacy services to adult inpatient bone marrow transplant oncology patients
• Maintains outstanding skills as a clinical pharmacy practitioner and consistently demonstrates the value of pharmacy services.
• Educates medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff about the management, prescribing and monitoring of therapies used in patient care area(s) of responsibility.
• Serves as a resource to the Department of Pharmacy for area(s) of expertise.
• Participates in departmental and hospital committees and initiatives related to practice area.
• Contributes to student and resident education.
• Provides educational lectures and/or participates in research (Duke, State/Local, National).
• Works with peers to achieve division and departmental goals.
• Takes responsibility for personal and professional growth.
• Maintains familiarity with all departmental programs and works as integral part of the pharmacy team.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Doctor of Pharmacy Degree OR BS Pharmacy Degree

Experience

• With a BS Pharmacy degree, two years of pharmacy practice experience, or acceptable board certification, or completion of an accredited residency program and demonstrated ability to achieve positive patient outcomes in a similar environment is required.
• With Doctor of Pharmacy degree, no experience is required.
• 2+ years of practice experience preferred.
• PGY1 or Pharmacy Practice Residency preferred.
• PGY2 in oncology or equivalent experience preferred.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

• Licensed Pharmacist or eligible to practice pharmacy in North Carolina
• Hold or Achieve Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy within one year of hire preferred
