The Clinical Pharmacist role at Medical University of South Carolina (MUHA) provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to inpatients and outpatients across the MUHA hospitals and clinics.

The position requires a Doctor of Pharmacy or PharmD or Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited school, SC Pharmacist license (or eligibility), and BLS certification within three months of hire. Residency is preferred, with ongoing professional responsibilities.

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.
  • SC Registered Pharmacist License (or eligible for SC Pharmacist License).
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) required within three months of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Job Description

Purpose: The Clinical Pharmacist provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the inpatients and outpatients of the Medical University Hospitals and clinics.

Requirements:

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (Include physical and mental demands of the position-attach demands checklist if necessary).
  • This position requires a Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.
  • LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS (If applicable to position):
  • SC Registered Pharmacist License (or eligible for SC Pharmacist License)
  • Basic Life Support certification: Must be BLS Certified within three months of hire date and maintain certification throughout employment.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Training and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
