Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Float Pharmacist to join the Siteman Pharmacy team at a NCCN/NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center in the St. Louis area.

The role covers Ambulatory Infusion, Investigational Drug Services, and Specialty Retail, requiring licensure in Missouri and Illinois. The position emphasizes medication therapy management, direct supervision of support staff, and ensuring safe, effective drug therapy for patients across diverse settings.

Qualifications

• Licensed pharmacist in MO and IL.
• Experience with Ambulatory Infusion, Investigational Drug Services, and Specialty Retail workflows.

Responsibilities

• Directs and manages workflow including oversight of technicians, interns and volunteers ensuring accuracy of their work in accordance with procedures and regulations.
• Participates in departmental meetings and committees as appropriate.
• Serves as medication therapy resource for drug information, staff training, transitions of care and Medication Therapy Services.
• Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness to patient condition and organ function, documents activities and communications.
• Identify opportunities to maximize efficiency and promote safety in the medication-use process.

Are you a licensed pharmacist looking for a new adventure? We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Float Pharmacist to join our Siteman Pharmacy team. The individual will play a crucial role in three primary workflows at a NCCN/NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center: Ambulatory Infusion, Investigational Drug Services, and Specialty Retail. This position requires a pharmacist licensed in both Illinois and Missouri.

• Hours of operation typically from 7 AM to 7 PM

Role Purpose

Assess, monitor, initiate and modify medication use according to patient condition and age specific criteria. Ensure prompt and accurate medication preparation and dispensing. Prevent, direct and resolve medication-related issues. Supervise and direct supportive personnel. Counsel and educate to promote optimal drug therapy. Direct and assist in the procurement, storage, distribution and disposal of medications.

Responsibilities

• Participates in departmental meetings and on committees at the health service organization, as appropriate.
• Serves as medication therapy resource for activities such as drug information, training of staff, transitions of care and Medication Therapy Services.
• Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness with regard to patient condition, organ function and concomitant therapies to promote optimal patient outcomes. Documents all activities and communication as appropriate.
• Recognize opportunities and offer solutions to maximize efficiency and promote safety within the medication use process.
