Clinical Pharmacist - Health Plan (Remote)

Summary

The Clinical Pharmacist supports the implementation and development of Pharmacy Services activities to provide quality, cost-effective pharmaceutical care involving providers, members, and practice managers. The role involves supporting the Director of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Department in managing pharmacy services for all HNE members.

Essential Functions

1. Clinical Support – 60%

• Develops, implements, and maintains clinical quality and cost-saving programs.
• Creates communication strategies for physicians, members, and internal/external stakeholders.
• Analyzes pharmacy data to identify cost and utilization opportunities, including reviewing pharmacy reports and creating new reporting tools.
• Supports and monitors the HNE formularies, managing communications to members.
• Educates internal departments about pharmacy issues and benefit updates, providing trend data.
• Collaborates with Disease Management, Health Services, and Behavioral Health to provide integrated clinical services.
• Participates in process improvement activities and the HNE Coaching Culture.

Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee Support – 20%

• Provides clinical support for the Pharmacy Services Manager and Medical Directors.
• Attends and prepares materials for the monthly P&T Committee meetings.

Departmental Support – 20%

• Reviews outlier issues with staff.
• Identifies opportunities for savings and process improvements.

Minimum Requirements

• RPh licensure with BS in Pharmacy; PharmD or related experience preferred.
• Minimum two years of pharmacy experience, preferably in Managed Care.
• Strong clinical pharmacy knowledge and a desire to expand it.
• Experience in pharmacy utilization analysis and reporting is helpful.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong interpersonal skills to relate to professionals at all levels.
