Job summary

Olympia Fields Hospital seeks a licensed pharmacist to oversee pharmacy operations in the Emergency Department. You will contribute to patient care through direct oversight, rounding, and counseling within a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes clinical pharmacotherapy, safety, and collaboration with physicians and nurses across medical services. A PharmD is preferred with hospital experience.

Qualifications

  • Current state licensed pharmacist in good standing.
  • Pharmacy degree required; PharmD preferred.
  • Postgraduate training or equivalent hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities of the pharmacy department to ensure high quality pharmaceutical care.
  • Spend 50%+ of professional time in direct patient care including rounding and counseling.
  • Collaborate with health professionals for pharmacotherapy management.
  • Provide direct observation and evaluation of patients' medication needs.
  • Support care across medicine, surgery, ICU, OB/GYN, pediatrics, ER, oncology and more.

Department:Clinical Pharmacy - Emergency Department

Shift:Full Time; Days;

Facility:Olympia Fields Hospital

Location:Olympia Fields, IL

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and clinical coordinator (if applicable), coordinates the activities of the pharmacy department to provide the highest quality of pharmaceutical care to all patients served by the hospital, while ensuring patient safety. Conducts 50% or more of professional time in direct patient care activities including but not limited to interdisciplinary rounding, patient counseling, or participation in patient care committees. Provision of direct patient care encompasses activities such as the direct observation and evaluation of the patient and his/her medication-related needs; the initiation, modification, or discontinuation of patient-specific pharmacotherapy; and the ongoing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and follow-up of patients in collaboration with other health professionals. The scope of patient care provided may include: General Medicine/Surgical, Intensive Care Services, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Emergency Care, Oncology, Peri-operative, Geriatrics and Outpatient Services.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current state Registered Pharmacist License.2. B.S. degree in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred. 3. Completion of postgraduate clinical training (PGY-1) or > 3 years of qualifying experience required.4. Postgraduate clinical training PGY-2 preferred.5. Board certification in a Board of Pharmacy Specialties clinical specialty preferred.6. BLS Required7. ACLS Preferred8. Experience in hospital pharmacy operations preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $113k to $164k on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
