Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Clinical Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide expert pharmaceutical care within a hospital setting, ensuring optimal medication therapy management and patient safety. This role requires a strong background in hospital medicine, critical care, and patient service, with experience in managing complex medication regimens across various clinical environments including trauma centers, PICU, and emergency rooms. The Clinical Pharmacist will collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care and support clinical decision-making processes.

This is a 6 month contract, with possible extensions.

Duties
  • Review and interpret physician medication orders, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness for each patient
  • Provide expert consultation on medication management, including IV infusion protocols, acute pain management, and anesthesia support
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate medication effectiveness and identify potential adverse reactions or drug interactions
  • Monitor patient responses to therapy, adjusting medications as necessary in collaboration with medical teams
  • Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques during sterile compounding and medication preparation
  • Educate patients and healthcare staff on medication use, side effects, and safety protocols
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all pharmacy interventions in accordance with hospital policies
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, especially within ICU, trauma centers, pediatrics, and emergency departments
  • Stay current with advances in pharmacology, physiology knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to clinical practice
Experience
  • Pharmacy residency or equivalent post-residency experience in a hospital setting is required
  • Extensive clinical pharmacy experience in acute care environments such as ICU, trauma centers (Level I & II), PICU, or emergency rooms is preferred
  • Proven expertise in managed care, hospital medicine, critical care pharmacotherapy, and pain management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of physiology and anatomy as it relates to pharmacological treatment plans
  • Experience with medication administration protocols and aseptic techniques for IV infusions is essential
  • Prior work in Level I Trauma Centers or similar high-acuity settings highly desirable
  • Strong background in patient service delivery focused on patient safety and optimal therapeutic outcomes
  • Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to acute care and emergency medicine is necessary
Compensation

$85.00/hr to $95.00/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.
