Job Summary:
The Providence Center Clinical Outpatient Therapist specializing in Child and Adolescent Services provides comprehensive mental health care to children, adolescents, and their families. This role includes conducting assessments, creating developmentally appropriate treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based interventions to address emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. The therapist collaborates with caregivers, schools, and community resources to support the holistic development and well-being of young clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct Client Care
- Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments of children and adolescents, considering developmental, familial, and environmental factors.
- Develop individualized, age-appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with clients and their families.
- Provide therapeutic services using evidence-based approaches such as play therapy, CBT, DBT, or family therapy.
- Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions to address emotional and behavioral concerns.
- Monitor progress, adapt interventions as needed, and maintain detailed and compliant clinical documentation.
- Partner with parents, guardians, and family members to support treatment goals and strategies.
- Collaborate with schools, pediatricians, and other community providers to coordinate care and advocate for clients' needs.
- Refer clients to additional resources and support services, including wraparound care when necessary.
- Crisis Intervention
- Provide crisis assessment and intervention for children and families experiencing acute distress.
- Collaborate with emergency services and develop safety plans to ensure the child’s well-being during crises.
- Professional Development & Compliance
- Stay informed about advancements in child and adolescent mental health treatment through training and professional development.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with agency policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision, team meetings, and case consultations.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Active state licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or equivalent; provisional licensure may be considered with appropriate supervision.
- At least 1-2 years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families in an outpatient or similar setting (internship experience considered).
- Familiarity with common child and adolescent issues, including anxiety, ADHD, trauma, depression, behavioral concerns, and family conflict.
- Proficiency in evidence-based therapies for children and adolescents, such as play therapy, TF-CBT, or family systems approaches.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to engage children and build trust with families.
- Knowledge of developmental psychology and child-focused therapeutic techniques.
- Cultural competence and commitment to providing equitable care to diverse populations.
