Job summary

Howard University is seeking an experienced Clinical Operations Nurse Coordinator to support standardized, patient-centered ambulatory care across Faculty Practice locations. You will lead clinical workflow standardization, quality initiatives, and regulatory readiness.

The role requires 5+ years of nursing/healthcare experience, a DC RN license or eligibility, and BLS with ACLS preferred. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and leadership to improve safety and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive nursing/healthcare experience, preferably in ambulatory or multispecialty operations.
• Minimum 1 year experience in an Academic Health System.
• Current Registered Nurse License (Washington DC) or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS preferred.
• At least 1 specialty certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement standardized clinical workflows across Faculty Practice locations.
• Evaluate clinical processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, quality and patient experience.
• Support policy, procedure, protocol and workflow development and monitoring.
• Provide clinical consultation to Practice leadership and teams.
• Lead remediation of identified clinical operational gaps.
• Conduct routine rounds for clinical and Environment of Care across ambulatory practices.
• Monitor infection prevention, medication management, specimen handling, vaccine management, emergency preparedness, and other standards.
• Support regulatory and accreditation readiness.
• Monitor patient records for care gaps and quality measures; assist in quality initiatives.
