Job description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Outpatient Dietitian to join our Pediatric Pulmonology team. This role focuses on providing comprehensive nutrition assessment and counseling to pediatric patients with complex respiratory conditions such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia, chronic lung disease, severe asthma, and other pulmonary disorders. The ideal candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary team including pediatric pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and social workers, as well as other subspecialists and community partners to provide nutrition expertise and support the health outcomes for our patients.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Nutrition Assessment: Conduct thorough nutrition assessments for pediatric patients with pulmonary conditions, considering disease state, growth trends, and energy needs. Patients in this population are often fed through enteral infusion, therefore experience with enteral formula selection and titration, as well as feeding tube devices and equipment is essential.
  • Dietary Counseling: Provide individualized nutrition counseling to patients and caregivers, addressing specific concerns related to metabolic needs secondary to respiratory demands, weight management, and tolerance to nutrition prescription.
  • Care Plan Development: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop tailored nutrition care plans to manage complex respiratory diseases, improve lung function, and promote overall health. Participate in coordination of care including progress monitoring, follow up, and assistance with acquisition of formula and equipment through community health programs and insurance plans.
  • Research and Continuing Education: Stay up to date with the latest research in nutrition and pediatric pulmonary topics to provide evidence-based recommendations. Support academic growth, clinical research, and quality improvement efforts of the department, including presenting pertinent nutrition updates. Expected to maintain continuing education in line with requirements for certification and licensure. Norton Children's Medical Group provides competitive compensation and support for educational opportunities.
