Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical Nursing Support Worker to assist trained staff in the SEAL Unit and support high standards of patient care. The role includes preparing patients for surgical procedures, supporting post-operative care and discharge of day case patients, and working with initiative to record observations.

The successful candidate will assist with hygiene, independence, and transferring patients using hoists or manual handling

Qualifications

• Assist patients with hygiene, toileting and protection needs.
• Record basic observations (temperature, pulse, BP, respiration).
• Maintain patient confidentiality and effective communication with patients and staff.

Responsabilités

• Assist patients in meeting hygiene, toilet and protection needs using own initiative.
• Assist patients to promote independence.
• Use hoist/manual handling equipment to transfer patients where required.
• Carry out patient assessment and record basic observations of temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration rate.
• Use judgement to inform senior staff of abnormal findings.
• Prepare equipment in an emergency.
• Maintain effective communication with patients and staff.
• Communicate effectively to agitated and confused patients including those with disabilities.
• Undertake day case and inpatient admission processes.
• Undertake Venepuncture, cannulation and ECG.
• Blood glucose, ketones and INR point of care testing.
