Clinical Nurse Specialist | Neonatal ICU-18923

Join to apply for the Clinical Nurse Specialist | Neonatal ICU-18923 role at Rush University Medical Center.

This position is located in Chicago, Illinois, within the Rush Medical Center's Neonatal ICU (NICU) department. It is a full-time role with a shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, offering a pay range of $51.26 to $91.76 per hour.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an advanced practice nurse with expertise in a specialized area of nursing. The CNS promotes quality patient care through practice, education, administration, and research, aligning with Rush’s mission and values.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current Illinois RN licensure
  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
  • Progressive experience and advanced knowledge in a specialized clinical area
  • Licensure as an APN per Illinois regulations
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to walk and stand most of the shift, lift objects up to 40 lbs, and position patients
  • Work involves procedures with potential risks and contact with infectious materials or chemicals
Responsibilities include:
  • Planning and delivering nursing care in coordination with the healthcare team
  • Providing consultation, promoting resource utilization, and supporting patient/family education
  • Supporting continuity of care and participating in case management
  • Evaluating patient care effectiveness and participating in quality improvement activities
  • Developing staff through education, policy development, and research dissemination

Note: NPs working under this CNS position do not have privileges to order diagnostics, prescribe medications, or initiate treatments.
