Description

Position Summary: The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the patient population served on the assigned units. Ensures that quality care is provided efficiently and safely, in line with the unit’s standards. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization, and treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with respect.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
• Certification/Licenses: Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license. BLS Certification required within 2 weeks of hire. Other certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter.

Skills

• Knowledge appropriate to the patient population served
• Sensitive to patients’ rights
• Clear and concise communication skills suitable for the developmental age of patients

Experience & Supervision

Responsible to: Patient Care Director or Manager.

Environment

• Exposure to infectious diseases and x-rays, working in a clean, well-lit, ventilated, smoke-free environment.
• Subject to stressful relationships, with flexible working hours due to emergencies.

Physical Requirements

Ability to handle emergencies, stand and walk extensively, and perform physical tasks such as lifting, reaching, and bending. Good visual and hearing acuity, manual dexterity required.
