For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering up to $10,000 sign-on bonus for all eligible experienced Registered Nurses with 1-2 years of experience, and up to $20,000 for experienced Registered Nurses with more than 2 years of RN experience!

* Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part-time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible.

* Current MaineHealth employee members are ineligible; former MaineHealth members are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation from employment.

Maine Medical Center's Labor/Delivery/Recovery unit in the Coulombe Family Tower handles approximately 3,300 births annually. We accept high-risk pregnancy transfers from Maine and New Hampshire. The department offers a Clinical RN growth pathway, supporting RN development, research, and leadership. The team is highly motivated, expecting inpatient OB RNC certification within two years of hire. The team works 12-hour shifts with an every-third-weekend rotation.

This is a full-time night shift position, consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week.

Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center's mission, vision, and values through excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient and family-centered care, community commitment, and accountability. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care, in accordance with national standards and hospital policies. Care may be provided inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, or community-based.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred; must enroll in a BSN program within one year of hire and complete within five years.
  • License/Certifications: Current Maine RN license.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience; prior cardiac telemetry, OR, ER, or perinatal care experience preferred.
  • Evidence of 10 hours of ongoing education annually.
  • Demonstrates caring nursing practice and promotes a healing environment.
  • Possesses knowledge and skills to care for most patient populations on the unit.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify potential crises and initiate appropriate actions.
  • Option to remain at Clinical Nurse II level per the Clinical Nursing Advancement Program instead of seeking promotion to Level III.
