MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is seeking a Clinical Nurse Resident to support patient outcomes through coordinated, expert direct care across the continuum in a multidisciplinary environment.

Ideal candidates have recently earned a BSN, passed NCLEX, and completed clinical rotations. The role requires availability for 7:00pm–7:00am shifts, with rotating weekends and holidays, on the P10 Surgical/Oncology unit offering specialized inpatient cancer care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current State of Texas RN license.
• BSN preferred; ACLS/BLS/PALS certifications as required by area.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting direct care across the continuum.
• Collaborate with physicians, services, patient and family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
• Improve practice by integrating research results and participating in data collection.
• Demonstrate clinical competency, document care and ensure discharge planning and education.
• Coach and train team members to ensure optimal patient care and efficient resource use.

Job description

The Clinical Nurse Resident at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidate will have graduated with their BSN in the past 12 months, passed NCLEX, and completed clinical rotation or a PSNE program at MD Anderson. Candidates must be available to work the 7:00pm - 7:00am shift, Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays.

P10 Surgical/Oncology is a specialized inpatient unit providing care for surgical oncology patients, including those undergoing complex cancer-related procedures. Nurses on this unit deliver pre- and post-operative care, manage pain and complications, and provide education and emotional support to patients and families.

Hourly breakdown of salary range:

Minimum $32.70 - Midpoint $50.48 - Maximum $68.26

Education Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Education Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing would be a plus.

Experience Required: None

Licenses/Certifications Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).

Licenses/Certifications Preferred: Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
