Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its Medical Telemetry unit in Salem, Oregon. The 40-bed unit supports medical and intermediate care with telemetry-ready rooms; nurses provide comprehensive patient care and collaborate across disciplines.

Requirements include a BSN or ADN with MSN option, BLS, and an Oregon RN license with at least one year of RN experience. Full-time, 7:00 pm–7:30 am shifts, three 12-hour nights per week.

Qualifications

  • BSN or higher degree preferred; ADN with MSN option considered with agreement to complete BSN/MSN within 3 years of hire.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Oregon.

Responsibilities

  • Performs accurate, ongoing, and age-appropriate assessments for assigned patients.
  • Reports and collaborates with healthcare team and takes appropriate action.
  • Delivers care based on individualized patient care plans and follows unit policies.
  • Initiates and reviews care plans with patients and families, addressing holistic, age-specific needs.
  • Maintains documentation of assessments, plans, interventions, and patient responses.

Schedule: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am, three 12-hour shifts, variable scheduled days
Your role with us

We’re looking for a compassionate nurse to join our medical telemetry unit. This 40-bed unit features private, telemetry-capable rooms and supports both medical and intermediate levels of care. Nurses care for patients with complex conditions like heart failure, sepsis, renal and respiratory failure, COVID-19, and more.

What you'll do
  • Performs accurate, ongoing, and age-appropriate assessments for each assigned patient.
  • Reports and consults pertinent data with the healthcare team and takes appropriate action.
  • Demonstrates competency in delivering care based on the individualized patient care plan.
  • Follows Salem Health–West Valley Hospital policies and procedures for all nursing skills.
  • Initiates and/or reviews care plans with patients and families to address holistic, age‑specific needs.
  • Adjusts care plans to reflect changes in the patient’s condition.
  • Consistently documents assessments, plans, interventions, and patient responses accurately.
  • Anticipates patient and team needs, sharing relevant information proactively.
  • Helps maintain a safe unit environment by following infection control policies, replacing sharps containers, removing broken equipment, and using proper lifting and transfer techniques.
Required qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor of Science (BSN) or Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing, or non‑nursing bachelor's degree with a Master of Science in nursing (MSN). Candidates with an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) and graduates of a diploma RN program are also encouraged to apply;ADN applicants with less than five years of acute care experience will be required to sign an agreement committing to complete their BSN or MSN degree within three years of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Current unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
  • One year of RN experience.
