Job description

Float is the full-stack platform for Specialty Pharma home infusion. We’re on a mission to make healthcare safer, easier, and more efficient by connecting SuperNurses to home medication visits - moving all care that doesn’t need a hospital to the home.

Float connects nurses with patients so they can get treatments for their chronic conditions in the home rather than going into the overcrowded hospital. Our model benefits all stakeholders - patients get more convenient care, nurses access flexible work for better pay, pharmacies fill more prescriptions, hospitals reduce low-reimbursement admissions, and payors enjoy 12x reduced costs with home-delivered care.

Having closed our Series A in 2023, we’re at an inflection point in our growth. We’ve successfully demonstrated multi-state expansion, validated strong unit economics, and boast remarkable retention of patients, nurses, and pharmacies. We’ve facilitated over 45,000 patient visits and are scaling our platform, team, and operations to serve more geographies and patients.

The Role

Float Health is looking for a Clinical Nurse Manager to join our Clinical Operations team and lead our growing team of four Clinical Resource Nurses (CRNs). This role will oversee the strategy and day-to-day management of the CRN team. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinical leader who is interested in a start-up environment where they can directly influence the success and evolution of the clinical team.

Our CRNs are a critical connection point between our independently-contracted field nurses and our speciality pharmacy partners. It’s a specialized role, requiring expertise in home infusions, excellent clinical judgement, and strong communication skills. This team handles escalations from our field nurses during patient visits, helping them navigate complex scenarios, understand medication protocols, and ensure they are fully equipped to provide top-notch care to patients in their homes. They also provide ongoing education to keep nurses up-to-date on therapies and best practices.

Given the size of the team and our startup stage, we’re looking for a player/coach – someone comfortable managing and growing the team while also taking on some individual contributor work and coverage as needed. Over time, this role will evolve into a full-time lead position as the team scales.

The Float technical platform serves nurses, patients, and pharmacies in addition to our internal operations team. You will be responsible for understanding our proprietary platform and representing the team’s needs to our Tech/Product teams.

What you’ll do:

Leadership and Management:

  • Set strategy for the CRN team, including defining, tracking, and reporting Key Progress Indicators (KPIs) and writing quarterly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) that align the team’s goals to company strategy
  • Create and communicate a clear vision for the team that matches our company’s evolving needs and fast-paced growth
  • Create, implement, and develop the tools and systems that empower the team and allow your role to progress from player/coach to leader
  • Manage the team’s schedule to meet coverage needs, including identifying hiring timelines and facilitating the hiring process for CRNs
  • Coach and develop team members while creating a positive and productive team culture
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency and process improvement
  • Work alongside a dedicated tech team creating and influencing process development to support our field nurses

Clinical Support:

  • Manage and continuously refine treatment and partnership protocols and guides
  • Develop and refine policies and procedures
  • Serve as a clinical expert providing real-time support to Float nurses in the field via phone calls and text messages
  • Support field nurses with advice regarding:
    • IVIG administration
    • Vascular access (PIV, port, PICC, etc)
    • Infusion best practices
    • Navigating pharmacy or medication protocols
  • Review and clarify orders and charting expectations with Float nurses

Clinical Compliance Oversight:

  • Evaluate clinical concerns related to nursing performance for context and severity
  • Assist in managing nurse quality concerns
  • Attend pharmacy partnership meetings, serving as a clinical representative for the Float team
  • Collaborate closely with nursing leadership across teams, including Operations, Nurse Recruitment, and Quality
  • Facilitate communication with pharmacies related to clinical concerns

Educational Leadership:

  • Assist in the creation of continued education programs for our field nurses by developing and facilitating content and curriculums to train and update their clinical skills and knowledge
  • Conduct in-service educational sessions on the administration of home infusions, including drug-specific protocols and the use of infusion equipment
  • Provide 1:1 sessions to support nurses prior to field visits for new or high-risk treatments

What you’ll bring:

  • 5 or more years of nursing experience
    • U.S. RN license should be current and unencumbered
  • 3 or more years of experience managing successful teams
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a passion for improving processes
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to digest and explain complex information clearly while communicating professionally, empathetically, and effectively with pharmacies, nurses, and patients
  • High proficiency using a variety of tech platforms (for example: Google Workspace, Slack, Zendesk) and the ability to learn new platforms
  • The ability to present information in a clear and engaging way, both visually and verbally, to a variety of different audiences (Slide decks, spreadsheets, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in specialty infusion therapies, emergency medicine, Intensive care, or oncology
  • Management experience that includes using metrics to manage and predict performance, setting and meeting goals, leading initiatives, and coaching and developing team members
  • Experience growing teams for scale
  • Lean Business Experience
  • Start-up and Remote work experience

This is a fully remote position based in the U.S. While candidates all over the U.S. are invited to apply, Float operates in the PST time zone. This is a full time position with a weekday work schedule with occasional weekend on call coverage.

Pay, perks and such:

  • 401k matching
  • Unlimited PTO with minimum days
  • Paid parental leave
  • Remote work stipend - generous bi-weekly payment to cover home office or coworking space
  • HSA & FSA
  • Voluntary Life, Accident, Hospital, and Critical Illness Insurance

Compensation:

Compensation for this role consists of a base salary and options grant, with the base salary expected to range from $118,000 to $135,000 per year. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and location.
