Job summary

  • Ensure patient safety and adherence to hospital policies within budgetary constraints.
  • Model service standards by delivering safe, caring, and efficient experiences.

The role includes managing the daily department operations, ensuring adequate staffing, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, and supporting the delivery of quality patient care.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing or a documented plan to complete the degree.
  • Three or more (3+) years of clinical nursing experience and at least one (1) year in a supervisory or management role.
  • For Clinical Manager II positions, an additional two (2) years of supervisory or management experience (total of 3 years).
  • Strong communication skills, ability to collaborate with physicians, management, and business partners.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on process improvement and patient outcomes.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Current State of Texas license or an acceptable temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support.
  • Professional certification in a clinical area or management is preferred; additional certifications may be required based on the discipline or unit.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of the nursing process and patient‑focused care standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage staff, including recruitment, retention, performance feedback, and professional growth.
  • Experience in forecasting staffing needs, scheduling, and budget management.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Manage daily operations of the patient care department and ensure adequate staffing and scheduling.
  • Serve in charge‑nurse role and provide direct patient care as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, management, and partners to address strategic initiatives and organizational goals.
  • Participate in on‑going program evaluation, process improvement, and outcome measurement.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop staff; provide performance feedback and facilitate staff reviews.
  • Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all policies and budgetary constraints.
  • Promote professional growth and development, acting as preceptor, mentor, and resource for less experienced staff.
  • Model Memorial Hermann service standards by offering safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
