Job summary

American Oncology Network's Lone Star Oncology in Texas seeks an experienced RN to lead clinical care across sites. You will direct, plan, and evaluate nursing services, mentor staff, and ensure high quality patient care in an oncology setting.

This role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to coordinate multi-site teams. Applicants must be licensed in Texas, hold an ADN or BSN, obtain OCN within 1 year, and maintain CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Licensed RN in the state of employment.
  • ADN/BSN nursing degree required; RN license active.
  • Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN) within 1 year.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices.
  • Five years healthcare clinic/hospital experience.
  • Three years management experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook).

Responsibilities

Plans, directs and evaluates the overall clinical care and functions. Oversees the activities of the clinical areas and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the clinical team that includes nurses, medical assistants (if applicable), and pharmacy technician(s). Assesses, monitors, and educates all clinical staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Assures compliance with all standard operating procedures and regulations to the assigned areas. Demonstrates working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Performs all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.

$64,355.20 - $126,339.20

Qualifications
  • Licensed RN in the state of employment.
  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is required.
  • Registered Nurse license.
  • Oncology Nurse certification (OCN) required within 1 year.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required.
  • Previous Experience:
  • Five (5) years of experience in the healthcare field in a clinic or hospital setting.
  • Three (3) years of management experience preferred.
  • Analysis & Critical Thinking: Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills. Must be detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness. Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.
  • Communication Skills: Good command of the English language. Second language is an asset but not required. Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), is an active listener, and effectively provides balanced feedback.
  • Customer Service & Organizational Awareness: Strong customer focus. Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, strong business and political acumen, collaboration and partnerships, as well as a positive employee, physician and community relations.

  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multi‑site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Effectively lead and facilitate group discussions, coach, mentor, motivate, and engage others to align to a common goal. Ability to effectively lead projects from inception through implementation and assessment.
  • Human Resources Management: Effectively hire, coach and support staff develop, as applicable, as well as manage resources, performance and employee relations, and supervise within established policies, procedures and legislation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.
