Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Clinical Nursing Supervisor to lead nursing operations on the unit, collaborating with the Director and Manager and ensuring compliance with current regulations and performance improvement initiatives.

You will participate in orientation and training, communicate with staff and physicians, and oversee staff quality, time, and resources while maintaining safe, effective patient care. Direct patient care as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative oversight for department service functions and collaborate with the unit Director/Manager.
• Develop and implement departmental plans including performance improvement and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate orientation and training of personnel; ensure effective communication with staff, physicians, and administration.
• Be accountable for staff quality and unit functions during shifts; supervise, direct, and evaluate personnel.
• Ensure efficient department operations; allocate time, equipment and staff as needed.
• Perform direct patient care within scope of practice when required; continually assess care and adjust plans.

Education

Registered Nurse (RN) license

BSN preferred

BLS certification

ACLS certification

2+ years clinical nursing experience; 1 year supervisory/leadership

CCRN certification

NRP certification

Professional certification within 2 years

PALS certification

5 years acute care operating room experience

Sedation monitoring competency
