Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse for our Endoscopy Department in California. The role involves hands-on endoscopic patient care, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and education for patients before and after procedures.

You will work 10-hour day shifts starting at 7:00am, with a unit differential up to $5.20/hr. Call is required on weekdays, weekends, and holidays, supporting a high-quality, patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing required; ADN must obtain BSN within three years of hire or transfer.
• Current California RN license required.
• Minimum of three (3) years related RN experience.
• 1-year perioperative experience or formal perioperative nursing course completed within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association
• ACLS through American Heart Association
• PALS through American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• Endoscopic Procedure Assistance: provide nursing care and support during ERCPs, bronchoscopies, colonoscopies, cystoscopies, laparoscopies, laryngoscopies, mediastinoscopies, thoracoscopies, and upper endoscopy.
• Advocate for patients’ safety, comfort, and understanding of procedures; monitor vital signs and administer medications as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and technologists to ensure high standards of care.
• Maintain infection control to ensure a sterile environment for endoscopic procedures.
• Document patient condition, medications, and any complications during or after procedures.
• Educate patients and families on pre- and post-operative care and latest nursing practices

As a Clinical Nurse, you will be an integral part of a specialized team that performs a wide range of endoscopic procedures critical to diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. This opportunity is for full-time, 10-hour shifts, and day shifts (7:00am shift start time). This position is also eligible for a unit differential up to $5.20/hr additional. As a successful candidate, you will:

• Endoscopic Procedure Assistance: Provide expert nursing care and support during various endoscopic procedures, including but not limited to Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), bronchoscopies, colonoscopies, cystoscopies, laparoscopies, laryngoscopies, mediastinoscopies, thoracoscopies, and upper endoscopy.
• Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' well-being by ensuring their safety, comfort, and understanding of the procedures. Monitor vital signs, administer medications as necessary, and provide emotional support throughout the process.
• Collaboration: Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, anesthesiologists, and technologists, to ensure seamless patient care and the highest standards of clinical excellence.
• Infection Control: Implement and adhere to strict infection control protocols to maintain a sterile and safe environment for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete medical records, documenting the patient's condition, medications administered, and any complications during or after the procedure.
• Education: Stay current on the latest advancements in endoscopy and nursing practices, and provide education to patients and their families regarding pre-operative and post-operative care.

Your qualifications should include:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nursing is required. If ADN only, must obtain BSN within three years of hire or transfer.
• Current California RN license
• Minimum of three (3) years related experience as a RN
• Requirement of 1-year perioperative experience or a formal Perioperative nursing specialty course completed prior to application or within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association
• ACLS through American Heart Association
• PALS through American Heart Association
